On Thursday, the C team played away to Merthyr, but the match was actually played at Abertillery, as the Merthyr courts were flooded! The match hinged on captain Mike Logan, who managed to come back from three match points down in the fourth set to win 3-2. The team move into third place, and are starting to look a good bet for promotion!

20th September
Abergavenny A vs. Rhiwbina A

Lewys Hurst lost 3-1
Chris Hill lost 3-0
Steve Williams lost 3-2
Ellis Lawrence won 3-0
Anthony Squire lost 3-0

Again on Thursday, the A team played at home against a strong Rhiwbina team that included the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Tesni Evans, and, with a side lacking our top two players, lost 4-1. However, Ellis Lawrence was a beacon of light, winning his match 3-1, a considerable effort given that he is ranked at 3 in our B team. The team remain fixed at the bottom of the table, but, with the return of both Roshan Bharos and Jethro Binns, it will not be for very long.
